Tip #13 Don’t Be Afraid To Use the Title to Give Ya Some Extra Words

This will give you extra Words to Move the story if you use the title as part of your flash fiction story. In my story, Slush Pile, I use the title to help the story. It’s some words also, and somedays us flash fiction writers need all the words we can get.

Title: Slush Pile

Each day the mountain grows higher.

The white envelopes keep piling up.

An avalanche of fiction buries the soggy editor.

Also, I did the same thing in my story, Mercury Heaven.

Title: Mercury Heaven

Heat shields expand as the capsule plunged downward.

Chutes automatically deploy, filling with the earth’s atmosphere.

Recovery choppers rise up, their blades gasp towards the rescue splashdown.

The astronaut is dead; there was no air left to breath.

It’s just a little thing using your title to help tell your story, but sometimes it’s the little things thatch make all of the difference.
